One of Guestar's most powerful features is automatically offering upsells to guests at the right moment. This drives additional revenue without any manual effort.

Types of Upsells

Early Check-in

Offer guests the option to arrive before your standard check-in time.

  • Guestar checks your calendar to ensure the property is available
  • Only offered when there's no same-day checkout from a previous guest
  • You set the price and earliest allowed time

Late Check-out

Offer guests extra time on their departure day.

  • Guestar verifies no same-day check-in is scheduled
  • You set the price and latest allowed time
  • Great for guests with late flights

Booking Extensions

Encourage guests to extend their stay at a discounted rate.

  • Guestar checks availability for additional nights
  • Offers a percentage discount you configure
  • Perfect for filling gaps in your calendar

Configuring Upsells

Per-Property Settings

  1. Go to Properties
  2. Click Upsell Settings for the property
  3. Configure each upsell type:

Early Check-in:

  • Enable/disable
  • Price (in your currency)
  • Maximum hours early (e.g., 2 hours before standard time)
  • Earliest possible time (e.g., 11 AM)

Late Check-out:

  • Enable/disable
  • Price (in your currency)
  • Maximum hours late (e.g., 3 hours after standard time)
  • Latest possible time (e.g., 3 PM)

Booking Extensions:

  • Enable/disable
  • Discount percentage (e.g., 10% off)
  • Maximum additional nights

Quick Toggles

On the Properties page, you can quickly enable/disable each upsell type using the toggles:

  • Early Check-in toggle
  • Late Check-out toggle
  • Booking Booster toggle (extensions)

These respect the detailed settings you've configured in the Upsell Settings modal.

How Guestar Offers Upsells

Guestar intelligently determines when to offer upsells:

Reactive Offers

When a guest asks about early check-in, late check-out, or extending their stay, Guestar:

  1. Checks calendar availability
  2. Retrieves your pricing
  3. Makes an offer with the specific price
  4. Explains what's included

Example guest message:

"Is it possible to check in a bit earlier? Our flight lands at 10 AM."

Example Guestar response:

"I'd be happy to arrange an early check-in for you! I can have the property ready by 11 AM for an additional $35. Would you like me to set that up?"

Proactive Offers

Guestar can proactively offer upsells at strategic moments:

  • 24 hours after booking confirmed - Offers early check-in or extensions
  • During stay - If guest seems happy, may mention extension options
  • Before checkout - Reminds about late checkout if available

Tracking Upsell Performance

Dashboard Metrics

The Dashboard shows:

  • Revenue from upsells - Total additional revenue generated
  • Upsells offered - How many offers Guestar made
  • Conversion rate - Percentage of offers accepted

Attention Flags

When a guest responds positively to an upsell offer, the conversation is flagged for your attention so you can:

  • Confirm the arrangement
  • Process any payment
  • Update the reservation if needed

Best Practices

  1. Price competitively - Research what others charge in your area
  2. Be reasonable with times - Don't offer 6 AM early check-in if you can't deliver
  3. Keep extensions attractive - A 10-20% discount encourages longer stays
  4. Monitor performance - Adjust pricing based on acceptance rates

Currency Support

Guestar supports multiple currencies:

  • USD, EUR, GBP
  • IDR (Indonesian Rupiah)
  • AED (UAE Dirham)
  • SAR (Saudi Riyal)
  • QAR (Qatari Riyal)
